About the Creator
Mari Shibuya is a visual artist based out of Seattle. Utilizing charcoal, acrylic and oils, Shibuya creates abstract figurative realism focusing on the dissolution of both external and internal boundaries to access the rich creative capacity humans possess. Informed by the use of perspective and geometric line work, Shibuya blends the human body with the organic movement of the ethereal and the structural components of our modern time to comment on the interplay of forces that impress upon our energetic bodies, sculpting how we physically inhabit this dimension. Shibuya is a graduate of The Evergreen State College with a BA in Philosophy and Psychology and presently studies contemporary art at Gage Academy in Seattle where she works, loves and lives.
