Hoops: Graceful Flux

Class Description

In this workshop we will be exploring the elements of musicality and hoop manipulation through fluid movements. The definition of flux: the rate of flow of fluid, particles, or energy. A quantity expressing the strength of a field of force in a given area. Using conceptual dance exercises to specific sounds participants will develop movement personalities and create unique new forms of expression.
We will play with breaking and paddling the Current (hoop direction). We will begin by paddling concepts which is helping the current moving along, speeding up the rhythm. Next we will explore Working with rhythmic breaking techniques that stop the current. Combining the two provides percussion-like meditation in your hoop dance practice. We will cover pinch breaks, waist, shoulders, knee breaks!


Instructor Bio

GroovinMegzz is a multiple prop performance artist who has been hoop dancing for over a decade. She works towards inspiring others to shine from within. Through dance, movement, fitness and nutrition.
The Hooping Body” is about embracing the fact that hoopers are athletes of the circle. It’s a practice that requires time and dedication to our bodies! Her goal is to inspire all Hoop Dancers to work on their physical conditioning outside of the hoop by strengthening and focusing on flexibility and in turn feel the benefits of this inside the hoop.
